This month marks the 100th anniversary of The Great War and Eduard has released two PE sets to dress up a Revell's kit of a ship that fought in that conflict, the SMS Emden.

The deck gun mounts are incorrect in these kits. They are not solid turrets but open housings. Eduard missed an opportunity to fix this major flaw with the kit.

I can only imagine they didn't want to bother with doing resin or turned brass barrels for the guns. Considering the extensive sheet details as they are now I wouldn't think it would have been hard to add the gun shields and details as well.
It's a shame to go all out with superstructures, ladders, deck fittings and mast details and not address the most glaring incaccuracy of the kit.

Would make more sense for the gun mounts to be released separately in the Brassin range. a resin mount would make more sense, and brass barrels would be needed.
