Hello @ all,

here my actual new project. The coaster "Noordborg" in scale 1/87 by Artitec. A resin kit with PE-parts, plastic pipes .....

The next steps will be the masts made of plastic pipes, wire and PE-parts.

The quality of the kit is fantastic. Some little putty and sanding, but only at few positions..... The parts fit perfect, the details are great.

Instead of the original colors of the Noordborg - light grey hull, white bridge, grey decks - I will make the hull in a red color with a black waterline and red under water part, a white sripe on the top of the hull, the decks in light grey, the funnel in red / white.

Hope you like it so far!

Ahoy Michael

Cool subject.

I love all those funnels produced very nicely in resin.

Looking forward to seeing updates on this one.

Cheers

Very nice project and, as it seems, a great kit!

These kind of ships remind me at some conveniently located wrecks in the baltic that you can visit as a scuba diver - all the pipings, the capstan on the foc'sle, diving into the hatches and through the bridge...

But yours is still afloat and in good shape. Very keen to see what you are making out of it, I would think it is a good project for weathering?

Hi Michael,
Great to see you also picked Artitecs Noordborg. I finished mine in May, after 4 years. It's a beautiful build you show us. Can't wait to see this with some colours on. Enjoy...

Let's start the painting. First a dark grey primer......

Then the first "real" color... white.... with a little grey seeing through the white color.... like shadows..... I like it more then "brand new" shiny white

Next step - light grey .....

Cheers

The decks are painted in dark grey with a paint brush, then also some details in black. After that the hull is airbrushed in dark red, as well as the funnel.....

Then I started with some details such as the name on the hull, the base for the wooden parts (get oil colors later), and so on.... some further details follow....

After painting all the details of the ship I added a first washing with black oil colors, followed by a detail wash of dark brown oil color. Finallly rust is added with red-brown oil colors.
Matt clear coat on everything followed by a glossy clear coat spayed over in a cloudy way....

And the display.... later with a water sufrace ...

Hello,

I have started the base of for the Noordborg. Firstly I formed the waves, the standart waves of my coastal area.... a fine sponge made the surface. With grey-/blue-/green colors I painted the base with a brush.....

The colos have to dry some days now, then I will add some layers of shiny clear coat on it. The ship will be glued on the base with acrylic gel, which I will use also to form the ship's waves... finally, drybrushing with white ...

Cheers

Hi,
thanks a lot!
It is a fantastic kit... lot of details, and quiet fun building it!

Yesterday fitted the coaster on the base with acrylic gel and formed the waves on the water.... now dryingm, then new pictures follow.

Also added some rope on the decks now... coming more and more life on it. Just thinking about what I could add more ....
Any idea?

Cheers

Hi Michael,

The only thing I can think would be oil drum(s) lashed to the rail on the poop deck

Hi Kev,
two oil drums in front of the bridge (the two old yellow ones) are already on the deck... do you think more would be good?
:) THANK YOU

Hi Michael,

Sorry I missed the ones on the maindeck, there is soooo much detail ;-)

Every ship I sailed on had an oil drum on the poop, I thought it was standard issue.

Beautiful, inspiring model
Thank you for sharing it with us
