Hey all,

Need some help with colors (as I'm color blind ). I see four colors in the camo, what are they?

I have access to Tamiya, Vallejo, Testors, et cetera.

Thanks!

Hi Mike,
this camo consists of white at bow and stern with a few white areas in between. The main part of the camo in between bow and stern would appear to be a greenish grey color. The remaining patches are dark red and brown.
There are some easier camo's for the Tirpitz that might be better suited to your build. I would recommend checking out:
German Naval Camouflage part 1 1939-1941.

Thanks Julian. I'm looking for the specific colors/color #'s...to apply (possibly) to one turret I've scratch built in 1/35th.

I've run across several schemes for these ships and I really like this one. It's more "land based" in colors (other than the white).

A 1/35th scale Tirpitz turret? Well, you are very ambitious, can't deny that. I would suggest making contact with my friend Daniel Moscatelli who by a strange coincidence at this moment is transforming the Trumpeter 1/200 Bismarck to a 1/200th Tirpitz. I am sure he will help you if you send a PM to him.
Good luck,
Julian

Mike, I can tell you the colours but not the correct ones from the makes you listed.

For Tirpitz in late June 1942 in Faettenfiord as per your profile:
Superstructure - Hellgrau, Hellgrun, Dunkelgrun, Deckfarbe Ockengelb and Hellbraun
English that's - light grey, light green, dark green, opaque yellow ocher and light brown

This info is in Kriegsmarine colors vol.1 by AJ Press

Folks, many thanks for the responses and links. Big help.

Realizing that computers and monitors will make colors look different, this is what I've come up with:

Naturally, there are a couple more questions:

Should I go with the 31-1 S Hellgrau or the 50 Hellgrau (RAL 7001)?

Regarding the Ockergelb 12 (RAL 1001), I can't seem to find a company that carries that particular color (unlike the others that are made by WEM). Any suggestions on a mix?

The turret "design" I'm using is from the Scharnhorst or Gneisenau battleships. Now, did either of these two utilize this coloring? No. And that's okay. (If you get a wild hair, hop on over to Armorama and see what I'm doing)

The camo from the Tirpitz fits very well with what I've got in the works.

Thoughts on my questions??

Any thoughts to the last couple questions regarding the two different Hellgrau colors or the Ockergelb?

Mike
