Hi There Guys!!!

The ship is one of the waterlines series of Tamiya, the box maybe similar with another manufacturer. I just hope this will float at is say in the waterline series. the kit consist of 5 sprues and sheet of decal. on the box art the Saratoaga or Sis Sara was in painted in camoulflage scheme known as Measure 21 with Navy Blue Vertical surfaces and Light Gray flight deck and was also painted with a complex scheme known Measure 32/11a (Light Gray, Ocean Gray and Dull black areas.

Well with all the paint suggestion, the instruction only comes up with one color scheme... will follow the Field Blue Option in which a friend of mine provided me a reference with faded color and streaks, I just hope I can pull this out...

The box Art

The hull eventhough its 1/700 its still long at about 15 inches

the details of the Avengers and Hellcats are very detailed.

Cheers!!!

Started the hull started with no fitting issue.

with the waterline started it comes with a weight. the base has an interlocking mechanism.

The Hull attaching the hull on the base plate with no fitting issue, with little seams on both ends that would be address with a liquid putty.

Looking good ER!! Nice to see the pieces going together! If you are planning a base, do you see the need to bother filling in the gap on the bottom? Just curious my friend!

T, as of now still no plan for the base... may a small piece of wood (varnish) with a name plate on it.

Since there's a fine line on the front covered it up with Mr. Dissolved putty.

Fight deck have been tight fitted together with the funnel and bridge.

Sailing Forward with the Ship

primered and pre-shaded it with blue

After a day, sprayed with field blue on the gun base 90% field blue and 10% white. on the flight deck added 20% white... the pre-shade is still distinctive.

Cheers!!

Nice clean work so far. I'll be watching. I've yet to try my hand on a 1/700 ship, but I've got some in the stash.

Nice to see you Tojo, Thanks for checking in

Hi Stefan, 1/700 is a bit tricky especially on the small parts... it would be good to try one.

Your Sara is looking good, my friend. I built the old Fujimi 1/700 scale CV-3 back when I was a kid; this new Tamiya version looks to be soooo much better!

Your blue camouflage is coming together nicely.

Todd - about 50% ready to set sail and will be nuke in the end lol...

Rey - Hello there!!! suggest its about time to get this one and bring back the memories, so far no major issues on this kit that can make your head turn... just only the painting instruction shows the M-21 scheme but on the manual suggest a complex camo scheme M-32/11A that check on internet references.

I Guess step 6 is done with a little touch up base paint... some gun base are small extra is need when it comes to attaching it to avoid parts from flying around or the carpet monster will claim its prize

Cheers!!

When I saw this I thought it was the old Fujimi kit, I think that's who did it. But; the aircraft look quite good. You are doing a good job on this and I am looking forward to following your build on this. I posted some pictures of my finished 1/350 Saratoga. I find the designs of the early U.S. carriers to be very attractive.

Mark - Hi there!!! thanks for checking out the build, I also saw your build and it really have a lot difference from its early tour, great work you got there!!!

Jan - just right in time, and she's almost ready to set sail. just a bit slow due to the small and fragile parts.

rubber boats stack up and installed around the ship. next would be the guns

Decs done, mock up the bridge and funnel, just need have the flight deck gloss clear to lessen the silvering and flat coated after... Note: decals should be cut out in lengths to make a straight line

Next order on my list
23 set of 40mm quad gun
8 set of 5" single cannon
2 set of 40mm twin gun
16 set of 20mm single gun

last but not the list a new pair of eye glass
