Hi all,

I don't know how many have had experience with Iron Shipwrights but I have to give them a ig endorsement. I recently purchased an Iron Shipwrights Butler Class Destroyer Escort from a third party via ebay. Some of the parts were broken so I contacted Iron Shipwrights to ask about replacement parts and the cost. They responded to my email and asked for a list of broken parts which I provided with a mailing address.

In return i received a complete package of all parts associated with the kit at no cost, not even shipping. This is the first company that has provided this service and for a kit that was bought second hand.

Great company and great customer service.

Hi Dave,
I am building a Iron Shipwright kit at the moment. Parts replacement is something they offer on purchase so it's great that they have done that for you even though you acquired elsewhere.

I would be interested in the "quality" of the parts they provided. I would say outside of the hull (key!) and some of the larger elements IS have some work to do in catching up with the other resin kit providers in terms of casting. Their photo etch is very good though.

I am using their parts as a guide to building my own or sourcing elsewhere.

cheers
Michael

Michael

I have to agree with regards to the quality of the smaller pieces. They do require significant work. I have been considering kit bashing a Buckley Class Destroyer Escort kit to replace the more challenging parts and may still take that approach. All that being said I am still impressed with their customer service

Dave
