Hello All,

Still staging materials for Dragon's DD-421 Benson build (1:350).I've never attempted railing before and believe it would make this model really "pop."
Have contacted a couple of suppliers regarding Alliance Model Works 1:350 railimg for WW2 small US Naval ships (p/n NW35003). One had no idea and the other didn't respond.
So the question: what is correct railing set for this pre-war destroyer?
Thanks for reading.

Just to make your job even more interesting they used different types of railing in different places on the ship..

Enjoy!!

I would recommend the Gold Medal Models 1/350 Benson/Gleaves Destroyer photo etch set. Here's a review. You can buy directly from them. They make an excellent product.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the reply. I went ahead and emailed a query to GMM. Their reply indicated that the PE set was really applicable to Dragon's Buchanon/Gleaves class destroyers.
So, back to square one for awhile. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. Am anxious to start the build!!!

As I remember, there are only a few parts specifically for Buchanen/Gleaves - notably the funnel railings. 80 - 90% of the parts fit the Benson class. The only noticable differences between Buchanen/Gleaves and Bensons were the funnel shapes due to different engines. GMM is perfect for your Benson class.

Biggles2,

Thank you for the information regarding DD-421. I think I''l contact GMM and buy myself an "early" Christmas present (they are only about 150 miles from my home here in eastern WA).
