I'm building a S-scale (1:64th scale) model railroad situated in Alaska and Canada and thought that it would be neat to feature an LCM loading logging equipment that needs to be shuttled to one of Alaska's many islands.
I've seen this done with boats that I've later identified as 'civilianized' LCM-8's but, unfortunately, the LCM-8 is not available in either 1:72 or 1:64.
However, the LCM-3 IS available in 1:72, but I CAN NOT find any pictures of LCM-3's being used by civilian operators.
Would any of you know if LCM-3's were sold surplus to civilian operators (following either WWII or the Korean Conflict) and used by civilian operators in a manner similar to how they use LMC-8's today???
