Hi all
This is the Zvezda kit with PE from GMM. I scratch built the upper masts from some rather large pins from the wife's sewing kit, piano wire and brass rod. These don't bend when the rigging is set. The torpedo nets are made from some satin string, which I actually think looks the deal quite good.
Hope you like it and please do comment.
Jacob

Hi Jacob,
You have done a fantastic job on that ship. I really like it!
And the weathering...just right.
WOW on the rigging!
Cheers,
Joe

Jacob,
That's a good looking Borodino! I especially like the subtle rigging. Good job!

I'm jealous of you rigging skills - my own Borodino remains unrigged.

Perfect, thats all I can say about Your work Jacob, and I agree with the comment on the rigging. You dont see a full rigging so often, sometimes its even not possible to do a full rigging o na kit. I once tried to count the number of lanes on a IJN destroyer and I gave up at 70 and that was just the foremast! Its basically impossible to do that in 1/350.

Jacob, that is something to be proud of. Beautiful work, the rigging as already mentioned is perfect and nice weathering.

Nicely done. Just the right touch on the weathering.

Thank you all for the very nice comments, it really Means a lot. I forot to add that the barrels were from JB Models.
Todd: Just give it a go, it's actually not that hard. I use some very fine line for tying fishing flies, and Lock tight glue to secure it.

Jacob,
I can only just second everything that was said above - that's a stunning build!!
And for your quote:
'understatement' doesn't get it - I did try on an earlier project of mine, and it was close to disastrous - you need a special talent to produce a rigging like yours!!
Cheers,
Jan

Well thank you Jan, I'm blushing. Let me try to give some more advice.
Always build up the rigging from the inside and outwards. I started with the wiring on the funnels, then the cranes, the life boat davids and so on. It takes up some time to plan the right sequence, but keep in mind, that each wire setting don't get in the way for the other and so forth.
Does this make any sence at all?
Another thing, in real life a lot of rigging/wires are fastened into the deck with small loops and such. I'm not going for this. Mine are tied to raillings and such, starting to glue these small suckers to the deck would really mess up my build.
Hope this help.
