Ok I was thinking, I know it can be dangerous but it does happen from time to time

Anyway would you all be interested once the other campaigns have finished of a campaign for all the support craft that serviced the battle fleets I'm thinking along the lines of the fleet oilers, depot ships, repair ships, minesweepers, tug boats, boom defence vessels etc even the garbage barge.

All nations
All scales
Any time period

What say you?

I'm thinking this would most likely be sometime next year.

Good to have you all here.
If we can get this up and running I'll be building the Niko 1/350 YMS-419 auxiliary minesweeper or the Hasegawa 1/350 Hikawa Maru hospital ship.

How many do we need here on Model Shipwrights for a campaign?

I'd be in for this. Got a WEM 1/700 resin minesweeper that would work.

I'd love to participate!! Probably either a Liberty ship OR the old USS Montrose by Revell.

I would be in for this campaign. I have some minesweepers to build, as well as the good ol' Revell USS Mission Capistrano

edit to add these old pictures of a very similar oiler delivering fuel to Kwajalein in 1967. (the real Mission Capistrano was removed from tanker service in 1960)

I want to do a waterline job of this model. it might be interesting to do it bow-light like she is in these pictures.

I like the sound of this, too. Mirage's Batory is calling me.

Typically it's 10 with the other sites but I know in the past MSW has done it with a little less.

Bill, Todd, what do you think?

Is this the same kit revell have been selling as an oil tanker the last few years?

I beleive it is the same as the one called "Esso Glasgow", if thats what you mean.
both were WWII era T2 tankers. Hundreds, if not thousands of those were built in various versions, and many lasted into the 1970s.

Yes, the Glasgow was the one I was thinking of. Couldn't remember the name of it earlier. If they are indeed the same I might look at getting one to build as a wartime tanker.

The real Esso Glasgow was indeed a WWII T2 tanker, formerly the Wauhatchie, built in 1944, and resembled many, many sister ships which crossed the seas during the war, and long after.

Apparently, the Esso Glasgow kit includes war time armaments to make her up at Wauhatchie.

Typically we try to get at least 10 people to declare they're interest for a campaing to be approved. In the meantime, if you got to the 'Campaign' tab at the top to enter and then choose 'propose a campaign' you can enter the details of the rules and a time frame.

Often, details like that are discussed in the forum before the proposal is made.

Any takers on this idea? What would be a good time frame to start and end? Remember we have a new campaign starting August and running for a year for 'Cruisers'.
