Hi all,
I know we currently have several campaign proposals and some approved campaigns for later this year but I was thinking of another possibility for your consideration. Ok, here goes.
No set date for this suggested idea but I wanted to see if there would be interest is doing something a little different. overall campaign idea or title would be the Hunter and the Hunted.
What I propose are two options for your consideration. Option #1:
Each individual selects two kits for building. One kit would be the sunk vessel and the second would be the one that was credited with the sinking. For example the IJN Maya and the USS Dace like I am building now.
 Option #2:
Everyone teams with another modeler and between the two they select who will build the hunter and who would build the hunted. An example would be me building the IJN I-58 and Si building the USS Indianapolis.
If this sounds like something ya'll would like to pursue let me know and we can begin looking at what would be a reasonable timeframe for the campaign.
 So let the voting begin.
  thanks for considering this idea.
 Dave

Not a bad thought Dave! I like the duality part of the build...tying them together. Of course my own morbid fascination of the wrecked end of modelling would jump in on doing an actual wreck of one of the two!

Let see what folks have to say and/or come up with on this one!!

Dave, over on Aeroscale they ran a campaign very much like your option 2 which they called Dogfight Double or something like that.
So are we looking at someone doing Bismarck and Hood?
Scharnhorst and ? (which ship has the credit for sinking the Scharnhorst as she was torpedoed by destroyers and shelled by cruisers and the DoY).
I'll be in with something as long as it's start is not until next year.
What about ships sunk by aircraft?

Hmm, I've always wanted to do my Revell HMS Campbeltown as the HMCS St Croix. Would anyone be interested in doing either the U-90, a u-boat she sank, or the U-305, the u-boat that sank her? Perhaps we could do a three-way. -Uh, wait, I mean.........!

Here's another thought I've always wanted to do. USS Buckley, probably using the Trumpeter USS England, and U-66, using one of the Type IX boats out there. This could make a nice diorama, and too big.

All,
I agree, this will have to begin sometime after the new year.
Todd, I like the idea of the wreck and maybe we can work that into the guidelines of the campaign.
Luciano - I was thinking the same thing regarding the airplanes. I think if a specific squadron is credited with contributing to the sinking a plane from that squadron would be acceptable.
I personally like both options and maybe that is the route we go for the campiagn so it opens it up to more participants.
Well we definitely have plenty of time to hammer out the details.
thanks for the response gentlemen...

Dave you may want to open it up to the flyboys in that case. Jap aircraft in the sinking of Repulse and POW, Allied aircraft sinking U-boats, aircraft of the 5th AF and the RAAF in the battle of the Bismarck sea and of course the Med, Tirpitz, just to name a few aircraft v ship/sub actions. Saying all that I would suggest if the aircraft were from a carrier then it's the carrier that gets built unless it's a flyboy who wants to build the aircraft.
Just a suggestion

Luciano,
I concur with all that you said. Will socialize with the fly boys and see if we get any takers.
Wonder if there is any evidence of coastal artillery sinking a ship? hmmm the plot thickens!!!

The German heavy cruiser Blucher was sunk off of Norway by shore based artillery and torpedoes.

Sounds interesting Dave,
Lots to think about, certainly interested. I have no real idea what with yet, but does sound like a plan.
I will have a think and a few

and see what ideas peculate through.
