Hi Mike,
Hey, ... I agree with Joe ... you did an excellent job with this kit (as you always do). When did you move to Indiana? I was going to say that the next time you were delivering a model to the USCG Heritage Museum that we could meet up. Oh, well.
Chip Marshall once told me that the domed fixture on the roof of the charthouse was clear, most probably Plexiglas. He also said that the two "turrets" were utilized as observation stations and not gun turrets and had no guns in them. But, do you know what, Mike? I like what you did with them, it looks logical and 'probable' ... Where did you get the quad-50s? I've just received two from Milicast in Scotland.
When I get around to having a guy to build mine (my brother got it for me on Ebay a few years ago from Portugal!) - I'm going to have it depict the boat as it looked in US Navy (after the USAF gave the 2 boats to the USN) service as what they called "Beach Jumper" boats ... Mainly because I hate the white, yellow and Dayglo orange scheme.
But, I'm afraid that it's going to be a while before I can have it done, the guy I normally have build things is getting older and is dealing with a serious family health issue and I'm busy going back to school for my Masters degree.
