My Flyhawk Naiad under construction. The easy part is finished - now I have dozens of the smallest plastic pieces I've ever seen, to stick on.

More pics to come soon.

Absolutely ditto on the camouflage. I haven't seen that scheme before. And I guess from your mat that this is 1/700 scale so I don't envy you trying to manage all those small pieces.

cheers

Very nice Biggles, I can only second: I really like the camo!! And very clean work!! Looking forward to see this one progress!

I have a soft spot for those AA Cruisers, I still hope to see one in 1/350 some day....

Good luck with all your small parts - that's why I stay away from 1/700 - this is just to small to handle for me.

Cheers,
Jan

Hi Biggles,

Looking great, always loved the Dido class, and that camouflage is a another great change from the greys.

I would like to ask, where did you find the reference for that scheme? I did some research on the Naiad a few years back, and the pattern looks the same as the pictures I have, but the colours are referenced as AP507C, AP507B and black, that is in Alan Raven's "Warhip perspectives, Camouflage Vol 1 Rpyal Navy 1939-14" and the Profile Morskie on the Naiad.

Cheers.

Si

I used the colored camo scheme on the instructions and included color chart. I have a feeling the green might be a little too dark, but then, it looks different in the photos above - same location and same lighting. I've already lost the windlass wheel - f-ing little thing is less than a mm diameter! Some parts are so small that's it's difficult to tell which way is which after removing them from the sprue! But this really is an excellent kit from an excellent company, and just goes to show how much fine detail a plastic company can do, considering they are relative newcomers (in the plastic industry market)!

Thanks Biggles,

No worries, I was curious, It is a great looking scheme, and I will admit I have followed the kit instructions without any further research before now.

Cheers.

And if you check references you will notice a discrepancy in the pattern on the funnels - they are reversed, and upside-down! I was holding the funnels upside-down when painting them, so the pattern is correct, just on the wrong sides and reversed. PS; Don't tell anyone!

Looks very nice. This should make a very nice addition to all the grey ships on most ship modelers shelves. As others have said I'm also wanting a 1/350 kit. You can identify me, I'll be the one turning blue from holding my breath for it.

IMHO, Flyhawk is currently the best manufacturer for 1/700 injected plastic model ships - and their 1/72 armor kits are superb, too! I hope we can expect a lot more from this company in the future!
