The 1/144 by Revell is not bad in size, detail and price. It's not a big boat to begin with since it's meant for coastal patrolling. I don't know if it's popular enough subject for someone to produce 1/72 kit but it is a fascinating boat with it's AIP system- something that has the potential for being even quieter than nuclear boats.

Michael, most diesel - electric boats are quieter than nuclear boats when running on electric motors as all the pumps etc. for the nuclear plant make noise. In exercises many times the coastal SS boat operated by a good crew will get the SSN due to the noise issue however that changes for the deep ocean stuff where the SSN has the range and speed.

Yes, when diesels are on battery power, they are quieter than the nuclear boats but are severely limited in endurance and speed. The PEM AIP's allow for greater speed and time submerged (several weeks has been cited). This makes for a very attractive boat for many navies.
The Type 214 (also developed by HDW and also PEM powered) has been cited with 84 days submerged endurance.
