Well looks as though Trumpeter is going to outdo them all.
From the Nuremberg Toy Fair:
A Type VII u boat in 1:48 scale and with interior!!!
Check out some images here:

I wonder if the figures shown will be included.
Yes! way to go Trumpeter!

Joe

Ahoy Joe
Thanks for sharing (I think!)
Gulp!
I may have to sell one of the children to pay for it and to find room to display it.
But seriously great scale, great topic and oh yes the figures, the interior detail!
I cant wait literally.
Cheers
Sean

Hi Sean,
Yes great kit to come....and also found out that it comes
with interior lighting....but this is still yet to be confirmed.
Would really like to see if those figures are actually included.
Also the photos do not show an engine, wonder what is up
that.
Cheers,
Joe

Looks like the figures are in a case next to the Uboat on the table and I would guess they will be sold in separate sets from the look of the display.

Oh well.....if that's the case, we'll just have to dig deeper into our wallets...

If aftermarket decks are made, it would not be that difficult to scratchbuild the above-waterline portions for depictions of a surfaced U-boat in dioramas. That would save a bundle in kit costs!

I notice the figure standing next to the 2cm Flak on the Wintergarten is at a lower level than the figures in the conning tower. According to the 3-D drawings by Goralski from Kagero, the gun platform was level with the conning tower deck. What gives?

The average observer could not totally clear the edge of
the conning tower deck so there were plate steps for them
to stand on.
Cheers,
Joe

Disregard my earlier post - I was confusing Type VII with Type II.

Here's some images of the big UB from Trumpeter's Facebook page. It's got a really tricked out interior!

Some of those compartments (mess deck, and torpedo room, ie.) look way too neat and uncluttered - they look more like a space-age lab!

Well, it's up to you, the modeler, to add the weeks of unwashed clothes, grime and general filth of a typical boat deployment.
