I'm getting very close to starting my 1/350 scale Tamiya Missouri in WW2 configuration. The PE sets are here, I've studied the instructions and I've been doing research on line.

So far I haven't found a good picture of the ship's boats while she's at sea during WW2. The pictures I have found seem to indicate that the boats are NOT covered. But...it would seem to me that they should be, to keep out sea water and rain.

Are there any swabbies here that can set me straight on US Navy policy concerning ship's boats while at sea?

Unfortunately I was on subs and in the engine room to boot, so my understanding of the deck functions are limited. I do remember that in the early eighties I was on a destroyer for a limited time, and while the cruises were short, our Captain's gig always remained covered.
