Ahoy all,
Normally an armor guy, but had this strange sensation when I saw a Revell Type VII C on Hobbylinc.com. My favorite movie of all time is Das Boot, and favorite book is Iron Coffins by Herbert Werner. So I decided not only to buy the kit, but attempt water modelling. Please comment/critique and thanks for looking!

Wow, Joe, that's a nice U-Boat! Solid build, cool weathering, and a display that is full of atmosphere. I haven't seen your armor, but I love your ships!

Thanks Tim!
I really enjoyed this build and the water was an interesting "experiment". I've kinda been watching the 1?72 Uboat build with a bunch of jealousy!

SUPER JOB......Joe!

Paint, weathering and especially the "wet" look and sea base
all come together in great visual presentation.

Cheers,
Joe

Thank you sir! I may have been bitten by the ship building bug now. I find myself pouring over Schooners, Sloops and Frigates now.

Stunning work! The water looks amazing and very real. But from an AFV builder to another, bevare of this dark side of modelling, it can be very seductive

Joe,

Amazing work for you initial venture into the watery side of the hobby. I too was once a treadhead but got hooked on the challenges faced by building ships. I myself am hooked and have acquired a significant stash that should keep me busy for the future. Welcome aboard, look forward to seeing more of your work.

Great Job Joe,

Weathering and the sea are really good. I am assuming this is 1/144th scale??

One very small thing, and this is personal preference, but a couple of figures on the conning tower would add that little extra depth.

Thank you for sharing.

Yes, 1/144. I thought about the figures around the same time as I was gluing the hatch on the conning tower shut! I may look into getting some figures, I'm in total agreement with you.
