Merit Yorktown Class Hull Fix: How bad?

I'd love to do an Enterprise. I've also gotten in over my head on some ship projects. It certainly does appear that Merit did the hull for their Yorktown Class CVs very poorly and it will require major surgery. "Major surgery" is no doubt in the eye of the beholder - but if I can poll the folk that have actually fixed the Merit hull or know someone who has, I'd sure like to know whether we're looking at a pain or a job that would require serious time and skill.

Hi Eric

are you asking about the 1/350 scale kit?

What issues are you looking at correcting? I've only heard the hull plating is a problem, which you should be able to sand off, and the addition of an amour belt in the form of styrene sheet...
