On the aft deckof the Yamoto there are two Linolium strips that run from the plane hanger up to the middle of the aft main gun turret. They parelel the track rails for the float plane dollies. Can anyone tell me what these were used for ?

TIA,

Garry

Hi Garry,

The linoleum was considered a "non-slip" surface. Used in high traffic areas I believe it was used as a path for sailors to move the planes into position. My .02 cents anyway...Mike

Thanks Mike, I was wondering about that. That had me stumped, but I knew it had to have a function!

Cheers,
Garry
