Just got an email from Italeri concerning their upcoming releases for 2017, and one of them is a S-38 Klasse Schnellboote in 1/35th scale! Now if they'll follow up with a 78' Higgins and a 77' Elco, I'll be in Hog Heaven! Al

I think Italeri have shot themselves in the foot

S-38 114' 15 built

Higgins 78' 200 built

Fairmile B 112' 580 built in 6 countries. As ASW, torpedo boat, Minesweeper, Rescue & Ambulance. Served in all theatres.

Fairmile D 115' 229 built numerous weapons lay out.

Harbour Defence Motor Launch 72' 600 built in 6 countries. Served world wide. Many variations inc one fitted with sails.

Hmmm let me think numerically which will have the widest appeal. Oh I forgot the ones I suggested were not German!

Just my thoughts

Not hardly. A bit more than 15. S-38 class was the most produced type of the Schnellboote. S-38through S-99, S101 through S135, S137, and S138- all were S38 types. About at the S-91 the boats were fitted with the armored outside the bridge from the factory. They retained the original designed bridge with armor attached to the outside. The S100 Class the armored bridge was showed the redesigned bridge(among other things). Popularity is what drives the market-is it worth the cost of producing the kit if no one will buy it?

Re-using existing molds from the S-100 is probably a factor in the decision to release this type. Same reason they have two types of 80' Elco kits and two Vospers. Economics, pure and simple. The other types mentioned would mean all new molds and a substantial investment. Al

They could theoretically do an S26, though few in number produced. An S38 would be less hacking than a S100 to model one.
