Has anyone here built the 1:720 Revel U.S.S. Enterprise? I'm talking about the one that goes for around $20, model #5046. Is this kit any good? I know it can't be as good as the Tamiya, but I was wondering how the detail and fit was on it. What year does this kit depict the Enterprise in? Does anyone have any pics of this kit built?
Thanks in advance. Vandelay.

I built her about 20 years ago. The fit isn't too bad for something that old. The model builds as she was in the 1960's, when she did time on Yankee Station off North VietNam. Aircraft included are 60's vintage; Vigilantes, Phantoms, Skyhawks, Hawkeyes and I think, Sea KIngs. Missile fit includes Talos and Tartar SAM's, and as the box shows, she has the old "Bee Hive" ECM dome on top of the island and the billboard radars on the sides of the island. I don't know if there is a photoetch detail kit for her or not, but White Ensign Models make 1/700 aircraft. Another couple of sources are SkyWave/ Pit Road and Fujimi.
