Tru-Color Paint is seeking the input of the warship modeling community on what we should be developing for the market. Right now Tru-Color Paint is in development of nearly every color the U.S. Navy used in WWII, plus the generic colors used on pre-war and on modern warships. We will have about 60 colors in this category by the time we are through with all the color matches and releases of these through early 2019.

What country's naval ships should be the next focus of Tru-Color Paint ? We have the color chips for German, Japanese and Royal Navy for WWII and can get the modern colors for these as well. We believe the modeler should have a say as to what we do next or should we do these concurrently with the U.S. Naval colors ? We look forward to your input and suggestions.

Ship modelers - where is your input on what you would like to see Tru-Color Paint add to the product line ? We want to add the the ship colors the latter 1/2 of 2018. From other forums we have learned the majority of modelers who responded want Japanese WWII colors but we have not heard anything from viewers of this thread ! We have already started color matching the primary 10 colors for the Japanese Navy in our color lab, but that is only 3-4 months of new releases.

What else is needed ? British and/or German WWII, other country's or eras ? Need your input.

For the U.S. Navy we will have released ALL of the WWII camouflage and general ship colors by the 3/4 quarter of 2018 including the Dark and Light Tropical Greens used on PT boats, with the help of Randy Short (of Snyder and Short) PLUS all of the modern colors.

Hi Martin,
I'd agree that Imperial Japanese colors would be desirable, and perhaps Kriegsmarine, British, and then Italian WWII (in that order) colors following. I'd recommend starting with the most often seen colors for each nationality first, followed by some of the less used colors - you won't sell as many of these - to fill in blanks after that.

I concur with Tim's suggestion. I would also recommend with the IJN that you hit some of the not so popular arsenal colors. Kure and Sasebo are readily available but the other are not and they were used just as much when ships were refitted.

Thank you for your input. Randy was king enough to supply us with the Kreigsmarine color chips and we already had the British color chips. Each for WWII. Is there any interest in modern British paint for ships ? Is yes, where is the best place for info on that subject ?

Harry from Battle Fleet models was also willing to help us with color development. He was under the impression the Italian paint should NOT be done due to lack of interest in that genre. Any feed back on this from you or any other ship modelers out there ?
