2:30am, and I've finally completed construction of the Hunley. For inspiration, I watched 'Titanic' during the build (and oh yes, consumed beer, too!) Tomorrow, I'll see if I can coerce the compressor to spew enough pressure to paint it.
Enjoy!
Mika

sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! The Hunley, not the beer!
Your Hunley Meex, was one of the builds I was really wanting to see. Looks good. And I salute your tenacity!
Wait until the others see it :-)

That is a great model there MadMeex. I particularly like the spar torpedo.
Have you ever read Clive Cussler's book "The Sea Hunters?" In it he describes the story, in a fictionalized form, of what happened the several ships, and then the real life search for the ship. Here is one passage.
"Satisfied that they had found the Hunley, they returned to port, drove to the museum in Charleston, and stood gazing at the the sub's replica. "Do you realize", said Ralph, "that we're the only three people in the world that know what parts of the replica are incorrect?"
If you haven't read it I recommend it.

Thanks for the comments, everyone.
This is Verlinden's 54mm Hunley. With the spar torpedo, it measures about 24" in length. The only modification I did to it was adding the top spar, which wasn't represented in the kit. For references, I used the Hunley website.
