Hi All

Can anyone advise on the colour scheme HMS King George V would have been painted in the Pacific in 1945?

Hi Linus,

According to Raven and Roberts British Battleships of World War Two, King George V was painted "Dark hull and light upperwork type" camouflage from mid-1945. I'm not sure of the specific colors, but I think the light gray was 507c with a block of darker 507b on the hull in a large rectangle roughly covering the area of the armor belt to the waterline boot topping. I've also seen pics showing the entire hull in the darker color around this time as well, so I guess they must have experimented a bit!
