Here is a few pics of the ships from ScaleModel World 2017 at Telford.

Starting with my contribution, which was on the IPMS London stand.

The bottom three are courtesy of a couple od our other members

The competition.

The Gold

The Silver, SS Induna, Built by Alan Blythe of IPMS London.

And some other of my favourites.

Some of the ships around the club and SIG stands, I know I didn't get them all, and I apologise to everybody that I missed, but it was a busy weekend, being both a member of IPMS London and the Fleet Air Arm and South Atlantic SIG's

Cheers

Si

Thanks Si for posting these photos. I'm in awe of all the talent on display. I don't envy the judges tasks.

Great photos Si and it's good to have a reminder of your own builds from recent times. Nice to see them all together.

One day I must try a seascape, some of the displays above are very impressive.

cheers

You are welcome Todd,

It was a good year for ship modellers both from the point of view of models on display and traders, great weekend.

Thanks Michael,

I have to say Martin, our guy that laid out the stand was very generous to me with space!

There were some great seascapes, The SS Induna build was excellent, I need to have a word with builder, see if he will do a write up somewhere on the technique.

Cheers

Unfortunately one ship model has been stolen from the competition area...
So not everything was as great as it could have been

Welcome Russ,

Hi Pawel,

Didn't hear that, but very bad indeed, failing in by the organisers if they are not checking on who is walking out with models.

welcome Sean,

Wish I had found the time to look and photograph all the ships there.

Cheers

Simon,

Your Bismarck looked cringe-inducingly vulnerable, exposed on the top tier with all those bag-toting onlookers shouldering past one another below masthead height! Yikes!

Hi Karl,

Thanks for you concern, but that was taken on Friday afternoon just after we had set up, then Gent going past was a member of another club, and was very aware of the models around him. On Saturday and sunday only exhibitors were going through that gap.

Cheers

Wow, Si, what an exhibition! I've been an IPMS/USA member since childhood, been to a couple of IPMS National Conventions too, but the quantity and quality of the entries at Telford are absolutely amazing.

Now to plot a vacation to Britain that just happens to be near Telford and at the time of the next ScaleModel World. The wife will never suspect, just be amazed at the coincidence... hmmmm, probably not. Oh well, dare to dream...

Hi Tim,

Scalemodelworld is certainly worth a visit, quite a lot of History in the area to see as well, even a few things to interest your good lady.

Not only is there the competition and the traders, but most of the UK Branches and SIGs exhibiting their work, plus a selection of models from the European contingent.

looking forward to next year aleady,

Cheers

Si
