Ok guys, I saw Mikeli was building this kit so I pre-ordered it (along with some the Czech master crew figures, which it looks like more of them could be on the way -- ?).
Anyway, what's the early word on this Revell kit? (Mikeli I'm looking at you....)

Nate,
not bad I'm not a ship builder so cant really say but as a modeller of limted skills I'd say its been good so far only 2 easy to sand sink marks, hull lines up good , just needs some filler sanding at the front and back, maybe just me but the internal bulkhead parts I'd glue them one side only until I was ready to fit the deck to ensure a good tight fit of the hull/deck I done both sides of the bulkheads and felt it was a little tight getting the deck to dry fit, as for the props and propshafts I'd replace them with proper brass rod and props to make it look more realistic, also you only get the ships flag minus the swastika and you will have to cut parts of the conning tower depending on which boat your making and early or late but a nice change from armour I'm happy with it........so far

Mikeli:
You mentioed an early and late style boat... does it come with the parts to add the additional armor to the conning tower (sould be some big square looking things)?

nate,
I dont think the extra armour is there what it is depending on the boat your making tyou may have to cut down parts of the conning tower around the watch deck areabut just looking at the instructions ther is an extra part to fit to one side only on u-82/203/253 hth

Wow, sweet looking kit.
Gotta love the fact he says it's the easiest kit he's built.
Are the deck hatches molded to the deck or are they seperate parts?

Mikeli:
I ask becuase I ordered a set of Czech Master crew figs ;ast night, and one has 3 guys loading provisions, an open hatch would be helpful for them. Does it look like they can be easiy cut open ot do you just run the risk of ruining the kit?

no I think if you take your time you can open the hatches out as the plastic is quite soft shouldnt take to long to do for you bud

yikes, re- revel ag u-boat VII C kit...
This model has people on the sub-commitee and the u-boat.net realy excited!

Information overload!

maybe I should just be happy with a O.O.B. build.

otherwise it will be 2010 before I start the next model.

(probably an Airfix BF-109)

I also have a couple of photos of the Revell beast in my Gallery. One even shows it next to the Amati 1/72 U-Boat!
Enjoy
