Didn't know this was around, saw it on a trade stand at Southern Expo, at a reasonable price, so had have it. I have decided to use the empty berth awaiting the Flattop for this little quicky.

The Kit.

comes with clear parts, a small etched fret and decals.

The kit contails quite a nice interior, I don't think a lot of it will be visible, but it goes together very nicely.

Next job, paint the interior, no colours are given, I am going for white, and pick oit th detials, and a bit of a wash.

More tomorrow - (or monday)

Cheers

Si

Si,

This is a cool project! I saw one of these little death-traps many years ago at the Deutsches Museum in Münich, Germany. Too bad that nice interior will be mostly hidden... can't wait to see what you do with it!

Thanks Tim,

Not really sure yet. I do have a Biber sat on it's trailer, and the Italeri dock section sitting in the workshop doing nothing, this may be the inspiration do finally do something with that as a diorama.

Meantime, the plan will be to make a sort of sled for it to sit on. Lost of photos to look at. But don't hold your breath for the final display.

The interior is nice, but the top hatch can be left open, so hopefully will be able to see some of it.

Cheers

Si

Thanks for looking in.

Cheers.

Sunday's progress.

The cockpit parts sprayed white.

given a wash and the details picked out.

The instructions suggest building the cockpit as a module, I found it easier, especially test fitting to insert the two halves into the hull halves as they were a very tight fit.

Fore and aft bulkheads fitted.

Periscope built, very neat assembly, and the housing for the boat's propulsion system, a torpedo motor fitted. The hull halves are ready for joining.

all fitted together, a bit of fight, at the rear, a slight gap on the underside, nothing that a little filler won't sort.

An attempt at a shot down the hatch, unfortunately my lighting and lens wasn't really up to the job.

paint job next, after a bit of tidying up of the seam.

Cheers

Thanks Al,

appreciate the pictures, at least it shows the kit interior isn't that bad.

Hatch can do with a little work, not too late for that.

Thanks for looking in.

A bit more progress,

I want to call this the tail group, the back end fitted.

A bit of pre shading done, I am still learning with the windy stick.

The torpedoes, and the torpedo motor that drove this thing.

And sprayed with a coat of Citadel "Leadbelcher"

More soon.

Cheers

Today's progress.

The top coat, the weather was a bit chilly for airbrushing, but a well warmed can of Tamiya TS67 did the jib.

The motor fitted, along with the rudder.

paint on the torpedoes done.

Torpedoes test fitted in place.

The kit hatch is only designed fitted closed, so a little rework was in order, the lugs have been removed from the hatch, and some bits of plastic strip fitted to the top of the "conning tower".

cut to length and painted.

The hatch fitted.

Not bad for a quick fix.

An overall view.

a couple of decals to go, and a bit more weathering, and she is done, then juts a cradle for her to sit on, and thoughts of a dio for her to go in.

More soon.

Interesting idea Al,

All I need now is a Landwassershlepper!

I haven't really thought about what going to do, except it will need at least a temporary cradle, and a figure of some kind to go with it.

Any other ideas welcome mate.

Cheers

Now that does look interesting Al

Cheap simple trailer kit and a few lengths of plastic I beam, might even have something in the loft.

Cheers for that Al,

Thanks for the comments and the assist. Might take me a while to come back to this, I am brewing an idea that came from the picture of the Molch on the trailer, and dio I was going put together with my biber sat on it's trailer. Need to think on this for a bit before I progress.

Cheers

Well Si, I guess the little sub will RIP for a while until you sort out your inspiration. I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Hi Tim,

That she will. This is likely to end up as a convergence of two builds, with the Biber I build a few years back, how or what the story will be I haven't a clue yet.

Thanks for looking in.

Well you know what it's like Jan,

Starts as a little build, and then just sort of grows on you, then a quick build turns into a major project.

I have a few ideas buzzing round in my head, will update when I am a little more sure on what I am planning.

Thanks for looking in mate.

Cheers

did you end up finishing her?

Shame all that detail in the cockpit (?) gets obscured...
