While checking out Modelwarships.com today I saw this series of photos. Pretty good looking Tirpitz, if you ask me.

nice boat,
to build it all by hand and then trust it in water takes some guts my dad has some R/c boats and told me about a lad from his club who's sub sunk had to get some diver mates to go down for it water wasnt that deep but had a lot of reeds hence the danger

I saw this too Rodger and was going to post it, but you beat me to it.. I guess great minds think alike..
To have scratch built is impressive, but to have the stack smoke and turrets fully functional as well. Well I just can't put into words how impressive this thing is to me.

One thing I did think of though.. Being at 1/100 scale... I thought of our very esteemed fellow ship lover Treadhead... You know how he loves those BIG BIG boats....

Well you know, Tread suffers from box envy.

Thats a very nice Rc ship! And it looks beautiful. A friend and I have plans to each build a 1/144 Bismarck together. He is the scratch builder extreme, I dont know where to start. Its all new to me! And I am draging my heals, he has already got his hull frame done. He said he likes the 1/144 scale because thats about the same as HO scale RR models , and you can use lots of RR stuff to scratch build a ship. I dont know I'm more of a plastic modeler!

Cheers,

Garry

If you are looking for big ships the boys from Soar Art who did the 1/35 Dora are doing a 1/144 Bismark in plastic, should be fun.

Cool...
Remiinds me of a USS New Jersey that I saw once that was scratchbuilt. No idea what the scale was, but the guy who built it, rode in it. The bridge superstructure removed to allow him to sit in it. He used to take it out in a lake in NJ years ago. Guns where all motorized and shot out plumes of flour. Looked really neat.
