Having tested waters with small, 1/1200 ships I felt confident enough to wenture into larger scale and build one of the better looking cruisers out there, the Prinz Eugen.
Luckily for me the build was mostly painless, with some gaps that needed to be filled, mainly upper and lower hull.
However since I never got PE set and it looked terribly bare without railings some was scratched, not the best but good enough for me.
Pics taken with flash cause there is no natural light round here this time of year.

A very nice finish. Prince Eugen is one of my favorite ships, she has wonderful lines and she looks like she mean business. You did a fine job maintaining that look.

Yours is a nice Prinz Eugen for sure. He's been one of my favorite ships ever since I built the (awful!) Revell 1/720 version as a child. Well done!

that's a VERY nice build, on most pictures it looks like a far bigger scale than 1/700... The weathering turned out really good, as well! Thanks for the pictures and for sharing the gallery!

Glad you all like it.
Though I've already changed the rigging just a tiny bit, and theres the gray sheen that doesnt show up on the model to bare eye.
May that be the clear coat?
Anyway, has anyone tried to figure out what signal flags are saying?

The port hoists look like VICTOR-JULIETT-JULIETT-?-SIERRA and the starboard looks like XRAY-JULIETT-VICTOR(?)-?

The meaning of the message is a mystery to me.

you're assuming NATO signal code, and in so far your breaking down into letters is correct (starboard lowest could be PAPA), however, DKM signal flags were different and, even though I know they were different, I have to admit I can't read them...

I admit, they aren't the best flags but it should spell from port Anton-Ludwig-Ludwig-Emil-Siegfried, starboard being Kurfürst-Ludwig-Anton-Richard.

the problem is not so much the quality of the flags, but the different and only rarely known meaning of the old Kriegsmarine flags, in addition to their (in part) close similarity to modern times NATO flags with many 'false friends' among them!

That may or may not have been the point, thought that some else would come to idea of looking those up.
I used the guide on kbismarck for them.

Continuing with rust, started to use some oil paints as i figured id get better effects that way than with the enamel paint i was using.
Pictures of consequences, may have gone a bit overboard but generally happy with it.

The Prinz is a beautiful ship both in and out of the water, and your ocean effects are effective and attractive. Are you planning to attach a frame or veneer to the base edges to finish things up?

Yes I do, tried get sides fixed up but it didn't go too well on first try and didn't t have any time to try again as i had train to catch.
There will be addition on anchor chain and name plaque aswell.
