Hi all,
Does anyone know what the lcvp's (landing craft) that served in the Vietnam war looked like? I believe they were (extra) armored, but does someone know if there were also some standard types there or does anyone have photos of lcvp's in Vietnam?
I'm thinking of using Lindbergs kit in a Vietnam diorama but is this kit useable for this area?
any hints or tips are greatly appreciated
kind regards
Mark

If you can get ahold of Squadron/Signal's VietNam series book Riverine, I think that they have several pictures of assorted landing craft in it. The French used, I think, LCVPs with canvas awnings fitted over metal bows, ala a truck or DUKW, for sun protection. Both the South VietNamese and American Army used several different types of LCs for patrolling the waterways up north on the Perfume River and down south on the branches of the Mekong trying to deny the Viet Minh and North VietNamese access
