I got the wooden base yesterday and fixed the sub today.:



Now weathering can start and only a few parts have to be glued to finish the model.

Hello Alan, I don't mean to hijack this thread. But, I built this kit a while ago and it was a pleasure. However, it does have a few issues. First, the kit has the linkage for the sternplane on both sides of the hull. It should only be on the starboard side, as Gotrek has it. Secondly, the kit prop needs to be replaced, it looks more like a ceiling fan than a ship's prop. Lastly, the kit supplies the hardware for the bow cable and the support cables for the 'side-cargoes', but the instructions fail to mention the cables themselves. Despite this, I'd recommend the kit to anyone with a little experience. Al

Yes, the prop is joke. So I bought a new one from the AM:



With some sanding the prop got a better shape:

I started weathering with the new AK weathering pencils (rust), but that isn‘t my way. So I had to paint it once more and the nozzle of my airbrush got a break. So I‘m waiting for the new one...

One thing Michael, The bow cable looks a little too long to me.



It should reach the hook on the left side with just a little sag, as in this photo. Look forward to seeing the finished build. Al

I tried weathering with the new AK weathering pencils...
Result: a new grey coat for the boat! But now the x-craft is finished with pigments and washings.
