Hi Thomas

well, you're certainly handling it very well.
She's coming along nicely, and at a pace much quicker than I could ever achieve

Thomas,
Sweet, you done a fine job with the assembly and painting. I sure the rest of the work has to be down hill from here. Looking forward to your next post.

Thomas,
I'm loving this build!

I know the ratlines can be a pain (witness my own stalled USS Constellation build...), but they really add finesse to the model!

Hey Tim, it is very dissapointing they didn´t have provided all railings and ratlines needed. And the use of stainles steel... well never used them before and will never use ´em after this

There is a big advantage to steel. Just run a magnet over the carpet when one of the pieces decides to practice flying

Hey Grant, but regrettably stainless steel is non-magnetic so I still need to bend down and crawl around if a small part is flying away. I will stick to the used brass PE next time

Thomas,
If you need more ratlines, Peter Hall’s
Atlantic Models offers some beautiful etched brass parts.

I think he has some in 1/700...

Thank you Tim but I have successfully installed all ratlines now. The upper ratlines were taken from the excellent Alliance Models and they worked perfectly

Thomas,
Very nice finish, she is a keeper. The rigging really adds to her profile.

Excellent work Thomas!
With wooden decks, all the etched parts and the rigging added it now really a beauty.
Cheers

Congratulations on commissioning another fine addition to your fleet Thomas!

 Definitely deserving of a few

especially considering the humid weather over in Germany at the moment!
The original ship is a mix of old and new technology and in the same way so is the kit, combining old tooling with newer PE.
A great overall job and definitely one to be proud of!

@Mark, Walter, Russell and Jan: Thank you very much to my faithful audience. It is nice to have you all aboard, much more fun than to just work for yourself. I hope I can still meet your expectations with the rest of my diorama. Never made one in 1:350, not to mention a lighthouse

And my build continues: I will start with the partial Island where the lighthouse will be seen on top of it. I therefore bought myself a volcanic stone out of an aquaristic shop. There is much volcanic activity around Japanese and Kurile Islands so I thought it would be a perfect choice to select this volcanic stone then. I will need to cut him with the saw the way it will look most realistic as an Island:

I first selected the lighthouse: Therefore I chose me an old pen with an realistic diameter to simulate the building. Found this old one which I will use for its new task:

After my Houdini saw-trick the necessary middle part of the pen was exactly how I needed:

The most important part of the lighthouse, the top part, was scavanged from an WEM PE-set for the Flower class corvettes. It is their late style Radar Lantern platform which fulfills perfectly its new meaning

The entrance door and all the small windows of the building were from my spareparts off the ZARA build:

Will continue now with painting the lighthouse and tackling the Island rock

Thomas,
Wonderful scratch building on the lighthouse, find use of left over parts. I was going to start thinning out my leftover parts but now I am going to have to reconsider.

Hello Rui,
thank you very much

. Regrettably I did ran out of steam here after I had difficulties to cut the lavastone (shop owner said it could be easily sawed apart with a ripsaw...) and then I needed a suitable diobase. As I did buy too much last month this investment was scheduled for december. In the meantime I did build two aircraft kits for some distraction.
I will post again when I did aquired a diobase for this and have some remarkable progress to show - promised!
Cheers
