With limited space, and missing ships, I wanted to find something small and interesting.
I found this.
This kit may be small, but it punches well above it's weight when it comes to detail and complexity.
A closer look.
The hull, not much cleaning up needed.
The resin parts
The etch and some very nice 3d printed resin parts.
There is a turned brass mast and a length of brass rod too.
Work started, the stand built, and the rudder fitted.
The hull has been sprayed Red primer. The rudder assembly is rather fragile so it with has been protected with some foil so I don't rip it off when I mask to spray the upper hull.
I did get a bit further Sunday / Today, but haven't taken the photos off the camera yet.

Hehe, limited space is a growing menace to the serious modelship builders Simon isn´t it? Sooner or later we have to rething to tackle with 1:2000 scale ships just for the display space

It is, but that is not my biggest issue quite yet (not far off though), it is not having a functioning workshop, and am reduced to a small table in the corner of the kitchen. (Remodelling part of the house).

Always had an interest in the small workhorses. This is some kit for it's size, it will be a challenge, but then it should be worth it.

Can also add a full division of four Mirage Flower Class corvettes (one of each different kit), a L'Arsenal Hunt class DE, PC, and SC, and a Niko MS.
Quite a large convoy we can escort!

That would be some escort, and don't forget the Trumpy USS England that can be converted into a Captain class Frigate.

Finally found a few minutes to get Sunday / Monday's progress off the camera.
The hull has been sprayed with red primer that looks pretty much like anti fouling red.
The rudder has been protected with a bit of tinfoil, so I don't damage it masking & unmasking.
Masked, the rubbing strakes on the side of the hull were "fun" to mask over.
Sprayed.
The steel area of the decks given a rough coat of dark grey.
The propeller painted & fitted, the boot topping needs a little tidying up, but not too bad.

Nice work, but it looks like that boot strap will need some touch up. I am sure it wasn't a joy masking the hull with those bumpers place where they are.

This weekend's progress.
Before starting on the next stage the main superstructure components were cleaned up and test fitted.
some construction.
cable reels.
12pdr gun platform.
forward deck house.
the windlass and cable reels fitted to the fo'c's'le., and some weathering applied.
closer view of the fo'c's'le.
the gun platform painted.
the deck has had a light was & the ready use shells have been picked out in dark green.
The gun platform and forward deckhouse fitted.
Some weathering has been started in the hull, this needs a bit of work yet. these little ships were worked hard, so they would not have been pristine.

Great project, Si! I've always had an interest in these peacetime vessels impressed into military service. But I think I need them in a larger scale.

I think they are the smallest reels I have seen since I built 1/700th. The etch is very user friendly, which helped.

I agree, they are fascinating. The armed trawlers were hard worked, minesweeping, coastal convoy escorts, and any other job that needed doing.
Would love something like this in 1/72 or even 1/144.
