Inspired by the Red Duster's masterful execution of the Starling Sir Garth Kit I've started work on the Starling 1/350 HMS Nadder river class frigate. Like the Starling Sir Garth, in my personal opinion this is an excellent, high quality kit that offers the modeler great value for their precious modeling money in that it comes complete with brass and PE as well as numerous resin detail parts.

The kit arrives very stoutly packaged. Major parts well packaged. Small parts bagged, a few were off their casting blocks. Nothing on a wafer.



Major parts: hull, 01 level superstructure and 02 bridge. Prefit test went OK.



Note the fineness of the splinter bulkhead casting; backlit, it is translucent



A multitude of small parts. Boats very accurate as is anchor winch, radar lantern, and funnel. Anchor shank properly angled so the anchor lays properly against hull with shank in hawsepipe - a nice detail.



Very complete PE set. Brass, from Master Models, includes both gun barrels and rod for masts and yardarms. Generously, two styles of decal lettering provided.



Instructions include a nice painting guide and color coded (by media type) parts list. Drawings are generally well done, but - a personal nit - I don't care for the black color convention used for prior assemblies.



Have begun (very delicately) removing flash - there's not all that much to deal with. Am ordering tonight the HMS Spey plans from the RCN Esquimalt museum and a new 1/350 scraper so will be proceeding slowly until those items arrive.

EJ, Good to have you on board. We'll both be learning as I'm thin on resin kit experience too. Just the White Ensign Reuben James and destroyers from Iron Shipwright and Combrig. The latter two were long ago and when done were somewhat less than where I wanted them to be.
