I would like to build the Father-in-Law a model of his ship the Tradewinds but so far have had total failure on locating any C-2 cargo ships, or kits that would be close enough to make a conversion from.

I have tried for an older Revell kit on E-Bay twice and ended up with sellers taking my money but still no ship

Does anyone have any suggestions as t how I might approach building this model?

My skill levels are mainly in the armor vehicle catagory and scratchbuilding vehicles is fine, but I have 0 experience in ships and would be concerned to attempt such an undertaking without a base kit or at least something close to start from.

Skywave/Pitroad makes 2 Liberty ships (C-2hull) in 1/700 waterline. Iron Shipwright made a 1/350 resin kit but it's out of production. Rumor has it (and I know) Trumpeter's coming out with a Liberty in 1/350 plastic this year.......Mike T
