Time for an update, i am pretty much done fairing the hull but there is a lot more finish sanding to do.

I will try to explain the fairing process as i do it, the first pic is of a section of the plans that shows the 12 stations of the hull, as you can see they are numbered 1-12, i scanned this in and made 12 print outs, i cut each print out to each of the 12 lines on the station plan and glue them to some card stock and numbered them, now i draw lines on the hull at the location of each station as per the plan and match each line on the hull to the same numbered card, the second pic shows card 5 located at about station 5 checking the hull for fairness.

Last pic show the hull upside down to show the counter as it needed to be filled a little as Model Shipways left a few deep gouges there. All comments and questions welcome.

I had the bulkhead version of this kit that sat in the stash for nearly 30 years only slightly built. I despaired of ever getting back to work on it and sold it to someone more dedicated, but now watching your progress I wish I had hung on to it. Going to be fun watching your progress.

Thanks Mark, you could start again with a simple kit. Well my home made filler kinda worked and kinda didn't, it filled the holes great but it is much to hard to sand so i had to grind most of it off with a dremel drum sander.

What did you use for filler? Sawdust and wood glue are what I use for woodworking, but yeah turns out pretty hard compared to the wood used in those kits.

Yes Mark i used saw dust and wood glue, as you said way to hard for a bass wood hull, i have some plastic wood filler but it looks like it's half dried out, i have used spackle compound for sheet rock works pretty good nice and soft. I will have to check to see what i have, ordering stuff these days is hit or miss.

So I was wondering, Rob, how do you know where to place the stations along the hull? Are there some dimensions included in the plans, that we don't see in your picture?

Sorry about that Tim, i should have added this picture to explain, the pic below shows the side view of the locations of all 12 of the stations to the hull. You can measure all the stations or just hold the hull rite up to the plan sheet and mark them off as i did. I hope that clears thing up. All comments welcome.
