Ok, so it's a little off topic, but it is impressive to see 600 to 1,000 foot vessels done in what looks like 1/72nd.

These are all part of the collection at the US Army Corps of Engineer Museum at Canal Park in Duluth, Minn.

Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald (aprox 1/100 scale)

And what's better than 1/72nd scale? 1/1 scale....

The Edmund Fitzgerald made a really interesting story on the Discovery or History Channel.

I'm starting to appreciate models of non-military things for ships at least. Something about the fact that they are so huge. Look how skinny that ore hauler is!

Thanks for posting the pictures. I really needed to see the tug. Working on one of those right now and I'm definately going to do the Fitz some day, love reading about that...very interesting.

Just a quick historical note for you. the Arthur M. Anderson is in port here in Green Bay this AM. I saw it on my way to work. Looked like it was dropping off coal.

I'm sure 11 knows this, but the Anderson was following the Fitzgerald on the night it sank.

Yes, I've read quite a bit about the Fitz, kind of a hobby in itself really. I'm trying to improve my building skills before I build a model of the Fitz....I want to detail it as much as I can, so I'm currently in a long term research mode. I want to do the victims justice...kind of my own little tribute.
It's kind of weird to think the Anderson is still making trips through the lakes...man, the stories she could tell....

Here is a pretty cool link that ties into Porkster's thread.

Enjoy.

WWH: great site, though just a pixel, I'm in the first photo on that site!

11: I shot the Anderson over lunch today as it was heading back out into Green Bay (with the help of a tug)

WWH, I agree. Awesome Photo's!

PorkChop,

The Anderson had a different paint scheme in the days of the Fitz didn't it?
