Yes, I've built this one. Some of the parts are rather thick, and out of scale. The main mast is weak at the crossing point, so you might want to replace it with some soldered brass tube or rod. The figures are next to useless. Still, as a first "boat" it's worth the price. Here's a nearly finished shot of my build.

Hi Erik,

although Michael did a good job on his MTB, the kit itself represents a boat that never existed. I've bought & built it, too, and did some research on the net after that. Now I try to reach my a.s.s. with my mouth
1.the boat is either an original early war Vosper design (no bow gun, no machine guns)) or a mid-war design built in Annapolis, U.S., under licence for the R.N. These boats had an additional 20mm gun in front of the wheelhouse; mgs possible.
2.nevertheless what it is, these twin mg- turrets never existed on Vosper boats; I saw similar ones only on BPB motor gun boats (left & right of the wheelhouse) or US Pt-boats
3.the torpedo tubes are way out of size (man, and I mean way out of size !) and the opening should be angled 45°
4.the wheelhouse is to be located more midships (and should have windows)
5.as Michael mentioned, the main mast is not worth one word
6.the figures ARE worthless

Conclusions :

a) You like to do a good amount of scratch-building --> go for it.

b) You like ootb-constructions --> get one of the old Airfix Vosper MTB kits; they're oldie but goldie (with minor changes).

c) Get the Revell S-boat; this one is cool !!!

Me again !

Try that link. It's a German site, but the drawings speak for themselves. If you need translations, just ask me.

Sorry guys, it's monday morning and my brain is still in bed !

I told you, the Revell boat never existed. That's not quite right.
It is the so-called "Herreshoff"-design (Vosper licence); built in the U.S.
Some 80 units of this type where built and all were given to the Soviets late 1944. So it never existed in the R.N. :-[]

Have a look here, Bren

ModlrMike,

On the rail that supports the torpedo tubes, did you drill out the holes, or did the kit come with them already drilled?

Thanks guys, think I am going to first finish all the kits I already have before i start looking around. I get all excited when I see something new, and then a few days later I realise I must first finish the kits I have been stockpiling!

Thanks again,

Erik
