Need detailed drawings, I want to do a 1/6 scale boat. Info on the torpedo will be most of what I need. I've got some questions on the props and control surfaces.

Any help would be welcomed.

The Bemannter Torpedo Typ Neger was built from a pair of G7E (T2, T3) electric torpedoes, so everything will be the same with regards to the screw and the control surfaces with the exception of a rudder added to the upper unit. The upper G7E had the cockpit, obviously, and was covered over by a dome. The length of the upper unit was 26' 3", while the lower unit was 23.5 feet in length. Here's an image of the standard G7e...I have line drawings somewhere, but I'm afraid they're packed away, as I will be relocating soon.

Btw, Verlinden does a 1/35 model of the Neger, so you should look into getting one of those to use as a pattern. Here's some books that will be use to you as well...

Midget Submarines of the Second World War by Paul Kemp / ISBN : 1-86176-042-6

U-BOOTE 1935-1945, The history of the Kriegsmarine by Jean-Philippe/D-Labourdette / ISBN : 2-908-182-42-4

Die SEEHUNDE Klein-U-Boote - German Text by Klaus Mattes / ISBN : 3-8132-0484-7

Hope this helps.

Hi Salt6

I am a little late on this post, but Angry_Ensign has put all the real info out!

Just a little input, Ironside also have a Neger:

but the VP Neger is far more detailed...

Thanks Guys!

I've found that 3" PVC has the correct O/D for the 1/6 scale. The 3" PVC pipe has an O?D of 3.5". Just a couple of .01 off but close enough.

I also found a can of spray paint in the paint section of Walmart that can be used to prime PVC.

Just got to find a dome and I'm in bussiness.

Hi Steve...

Here are two pics of a waterline Neger

And now the dimensions of the dome (in milimeters):
Diameter: 14mm
Height: 9.5mm

Now you only have to make the convertion to 1/6 to find out the needed dimentions...
Hope this helps.

Without knowing what scale Rui's model is, I presume it's 1/35, your dome should be 3 and 3/16 of an inch in diameter, and 2 and 1/8 inches in height.

I would look at caps for bottles, children's toys, or even some sort of packaging bubbles for a clear dome you can scrounge.

Worst case...you can make one by pulling clear thermaform over a ball of the proper diameter. I once used a ping pong ball as a mantlet for a SturmTiger...

Jeff,

Thank you so much for pointing out an important missing info: the scale!!
Yes it's 1/35 (this is the waterline model of the Neger, by VP)....

In 1/6 scale the dome should be 81.6mm in diameter...
My advice is to find a hemispherical (or even a sphere) with this diameter and then thermaformate the needed dome, or...
Make a master and use clear resin to make domes until you'll reached the perfect one

Thank you again Jeff

Thanks Guys,

I think I've found the dome. I was doing some looking the other day and found this;

http://www.plastruct.com/Pages/Action.lasso?-database=PI.PRODUCTS.fp5&-Layout=Complete&-Response=OnlineProductDetail.html&-op=eq&CCode=VHH-325&-Search

Now all I have left to do is figure out how to fabricate the front and rear sections.

You can always turn them on a lathe...if you run into a snag, drop me an email, I have a lathe and some big diameter nylon rod...
