Not so sure those would be good pics for weathering cuase its hard to tell what is weather and what is the sub just having hit a mountain. It looks like the side got pretty scraped up in addition to the front getting smashed in.

Heads are going to roll....

Skipper
My son is a former submariner, and has been participating in some "chat rooms" with others in the active sub community. As some of you are probably aware, the skipper has been temporarily relieved of command pending the investigation.
Given the severe damage, the simple fact that he brought the boat home despite tremendous injury to many of the crew, ought to warrant commendation. He has gotten nothing but support from his crew about what happened after the collision, and in fact may have prevented the total loss of the boat. There is likely nothing the skipper could have done to avoid/prevent the mishap, provided he was where he was supposed to be, doing what he was supposed to be doing, the way he was supposed to be doing it.
That's in a perfect world.
Real world?. He ran his boat into something and severely damaged it and lost at least one crew member. Whether the inquiry board absolves him of blame, and even if he is placed back in command, sadly it is almost certain that he will not ever get a meaningful command assignment in the future, and is almost certain not to ever be promoted.
Command is never easy.
Tom
