I was looking at the painting instructions for the DML 1/700 HMS Trafalgar when I noticed that the drawing doesn't show the notch in the leading edge of the vertical fins where it joins the hull. The kit parts have this notch. Does anyone know if that notch is really there?
I searched the Web for kit reviews. I found one "in the box" review which didn't help.
I searched for pictures of the real sub, but most are from the front quarter of the sub and even those showing the rear are when the sub is underway and that area is covered with water.
I searched for drawings and it's amazing how different they are. Some had the notch, some didn't. Some have the tall vertical fins, some have shorter fins. Some sails are the size of the kit, some are about 1/3 shorter.

The only online pic that I found showing the HMS Trafalgar from the stern are here...

In case of doubt, and if you can not confirm any more, I would stick to the model parts....
