Skipper nice review. This and the MIG kit are pulling at me. Its another side of the hobby that I would love to explore. Heck its even 1/35th! Between those and the Accurate Armor LCT I would go broke! Thanks again keep us updated on the build.

Nice review , Skipper.
:[]--
I wouldn't worry too much about Mrs Skipper; just count her shoes weekly :-)
With your permission (?) I'll download the pics you've posted.
They'll be a great help in a (future) scratchbuilding project in 1/72. I like that little boat.
Btw, some weeks ago I asked you for the total length of the G-5 (model or original) including the stern torpedo rails (that should be length OA, right ?). Please, ... It's not that urgent, cause I'm still busy with the Typ IX and an S-Boot .

THX in advance

Hi Scott!
Strangely I never was leaned torwards AA LCT - strange
But am looking forward (for more than two years) of their release of the IJN Ko-Hyoteki Midget sub, the version that attacked Pearl Harbour
Hi Geronimo
I didn't forgot the question, but since there are several parts (hull plus the torpedo rail) it's tricky. The hull itself measures 39,2 cm
Feel free to use my pics as you please! If you need more pics, please ask!
And it's funny (the Shoe issue) because when Mrs Skipper arrived and watched the box, my answer was:
It's my new shoe box :-)
Any pics of your work so far?
Skipper

Skipper,
according to the photos (that I'll thankfully use, especially the plans (MUCHAS GRACIAS)) I see that the CinC at least allows you to smoke in your hobby room. :-) (shoebox, muahahahaha ...) Just kidding.
Thanks a lot for the information; so in 1/72 the hull should be 190,6mm. That's important for me to scale down the plans.
Unfortunately, I don't own a digicam, but I'm surely going to have some pictures posted when I see some progress myself.
The type IX is a kind of "stepchild". The simple hull is done; but the trouble starts while doing research: which boat used what kind of deck planking with which kind of conning tower and what AAA-armarment ? In addition, the number of the slots varied as well as the deck railings ... I think I'll stay with U-505 (although they surrendered ...!!!); it's not only the last survivor of its class, but the reference is the best you can get.
The other boat is an S-Boot of the short type (S-30-37; S- 54-61). It''ll be S-57, which was heavy damaged after MGB-action and thus scuttled in the Adriatic Sea. Reference is quite ok for this one (in fact it's an optical mixture of the old Airfix and the Revell kit).
After that, it's definetly the G-5. Thanks to your pictures and information I now have all the references I needed.
I still have to wait for a square meter of 0,5mm sheet styrene to arrive. I work in a chem lab, and this is a free sample of best industrial quality "that we consider to use for further projects" (or so we told them). Bad boy I am.

Btw, I have to visit our workshop-guy for some CNC-made torpedos and t.-tube material !
Nice weekend,
happy "shoe-boxing",
my most honourable greetings to Mrs "CinC" Skipper

HI
WOW !!! This looks like it will be a cool looking kit when it's completed. Are you going to do an on-line build log or just going to post pix?
Please know that I am living vicariously through you

Hi Lance!
Yes, I intend to make a step by step article - more or less in the same way as theICM's Type XXIII U-boot built review
