Still making slow progress with my corvette, work seems to be taking longer and longer as I finally get near to finishing her. Recently I've been building the 16ft boats, which again are from David Parkins' 'Great Little Ships' range. There are a few more pics of the boat in my gallery, she is resin and PE, baseboards painted in oils

That's incredible. By my calculations that must be aroudn 2.5 inches long? If you photo shopped that into a picture of a garage it would look like a full sized boat somebody was making.

Gee, I can't imagine why it's taking you so long?

Hi there Graham!

Although a late progress, I can say that the workmanship is top notch!
A model on itself and a true replica!
Only one sugestion (again, I know....):
From the pictures I guess that the rudder is PE, right?
As is the rudder tiller - I found the gap between the two parts of the tiller strange - check page 146 of AOTS HMCS Agassiz, drawings H1/3 and H1/8.

Keep up, you're almost there!

Yep she's just a shade over 2.5" long. Something like 20+ parts in what you can see in the photo above...

You're right about it taking so long, I really must pull my finger out!

Skipper, I think I see what you mean in the photo - looks as if there is a longitudinal gap in the handle of the tiller (there is probably a nautical term for that handle but I'm aircrew rather than a 'real' sailor )

In fact there is no actual gap, it just looks that way in the photo for some reason, perhaps because it is made up of several PE parts sandwiched together

Hi Graham!

It may be a light "trick" but it fooled me to the point of saying it to you!!

Tiller is the english nautical term, in portuguese would be rudder cane (cana do leme)

It's turning out an excellent model, Graham!
Congratulations, once again

Latest update, have now finished and installed one of the 16' dinghies. Would have been completed sooner except that one of my pet parrots decided to remove all the oars and davits... As well most of the other davits around the ship!

Strangely (and luckily) she didn't touch anything else. Odd bird. Anyway, here's a couple of pics, more in my gallery. As ever any comments and constructive criticism very much welcome, thanks for looking.

Hi Graham!

Appart from the Parrot attack (which is always better than a Cat attack) your work continues to be excellent!
I am thinking of adding the new pictures to the HMS Campanula MOD Feature - a kind of update!
What do you think, Graham?

Keep up - you're almost there

hi Skipper!

Fortunately we don't have a cat (have got a 6 stone German Shepherd but he doesn't take an interest in my models luckily)

Please feel free to add any of the pics to the Campanula feature, or indeed do anything else you like with them on the site

HI

WOW, great workmanship !! It never cease to impress me when I see how many talented builders we have nowadays !

I cannot wait to see it finished.

LOL, I will build mine downstairs where my parrot cannot get at it I learned that the hard way years ago after mine took out some AC and armour kits I had on display.

Once again, my kudos!

Thanks for the kind words Tom

What kind of bird are you owned by? We have two red lories (better known as red devils perhaps...)

Hi

ON TOPIC: I have placed my initial order for the detail sets as recommended by you so I look fwd to my winter project. Also picked up some decals for some RCN Flowers, now the hard part will be to decide which one to build .. LOL

I have an African Grey, hmm she has a red tail, that would explain a lot ... hahaha

Hi

I've just ordered some lycra thread for rigging and also some cotton ensigns and signal flags. I'll let you know what they are like when they arrive, and post links if you need them. Did you get your RCN decals from Bob Pearson btw?

CAG: Nice bird - a good talker I'd imagine? Our lories both have fairly good vocabularies, unusual for lories as a lot of them don't talk at all. I shall have to put some pics of them in my gallery

HI

Yes I did get them from him along with the instructions to convert the kit to a short fcsle .. A tad pricey IMHO but what they hey. I will have most of the sheet leftover so if anyone out there wants a specific ship, let me know.

Last count 175 words and yes, they can be used constructively ... LOL

David Parkins (owner of 'Great Little Ships' who make all the PE my ship has had added to her) is supposedly adding a short focsle conversion kit to his range. I was sorely tempted to do one as a future project, maybe Campanula before she was refitted, but I think that having spent nearly two years on this one I need a slightly less involved project next time around!

I've already got a Revell E-boat (1/72) and the White Ensign PE set in my stash, and would love to add their Type VII as well - the three of those displayed together would look fantastic I think.

175 words?! That's pretty impressive - not sure exactly how many ours have, but it's certainly in the tens - I'd guess at about 40-50 max. The interesting thing is that they do use them in the right context a lot of the time, clever little so and so's! Our two are in the kitchen as I type this, alternately wrecking the place, squabbling, and preening each other...

Thanks, but no - I actually got some decals from Bob myself (not a full set, just for Campanula), and plans for the short focsle came in the package. And anyway I really need something a little less involved for my next build!

Hi George

Thanks for your comments! She's 1/72 scale, which makes the detailing a bit easier...
