I just saw in an unrelated review that Revell had recently (in relative terms) rereleased the old Matchbox 1/72 Flower-Class corvette. Does anyone know if it's still available?

Thanks, Eric. Do you know of any reviews or other info on it? I last saw it in a Matchbox catalogue about 20 years ago. Or should I go to the Revell site?

Any of you sea-going types ever build this kit? Was one of my fantasy builds as a kid but could never afford it.

Hi David!

You should check Ripsters built, very impressive
He is using a lot of PE sets, but the only thing I can say is: Excellent job!

Thanks for that, Skipper & Darktrooper. It looks awesome. Haven't been able to find out the price in Europe yet though, or who stocks it.

Price in the UK is around £50, same as Revell's U-boat

David

If you're going to build the Revell/Matchbox Flower Corvette, you must visit Bob Pearson's site:

http://www.cbrnp.com/RNP/Flower/

I haven't made much progress on my Flower but I bought some of the Sirmar aftermarket bits and hope to get to work on it when the weather warms up. It's too big to work on in the house and my shed gets a bit cold on winter nights.

Exactly the same for me! Don't know how I missed this thread before. If you want any info and/or tips during your build then let me know, either through the forums or PM

Stormbringer is dead right, the Great Little Ships PE sets are superb, but they do add a heck of a lot to the cost of the project...

Thanks, Ripster. I saw your build and it looks spectacular, mate. Really. I just heard about Revell reissuing this kit recently which is why I got so excited. However, I won't be buying this kit til next year when I move to Europe. Don't see much point in paying postage to SL just to transport it back to Germany.

Will be drooling til then, though!

Revell has re-released the Matchbox 1:72 Flower Class corvette about a year or two ago.
It's the cheapest ship of this size, I got mine for less than $50, still in the box. Anyway,
I bought a finished model built OOB by a pro builder, with some scratch-built parts. I posted
all its pictures at : http://www.shipmodels.info/mwphpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3767

Several guys there love it, one guy said it's "one of the best he's ever seen" of this ship.
Please take a look!

Here's an interesting site for anyone building the corvette.
http://www.hmcssackville-cnmt.ns.ca/
Also makes a nice trip to check the ship out in person.
