Al LaFleche (aka AJLaFleche) bring us a photo report of one of his summer activities:
A trip to a WWII LST (Landing Ship, Tank), hull number 325, that is kept in Evansville, Indiana, USA.
After a second life (actualy... third) in the Greek Navy (ence the Greek National Flag in one of the pictures, a memory of her Greek past), in 2000 she was acquired by The USS Ship Memorial, Inc., and sailed back across the Atlantic for the final time, arriving in Mobile, Alabama on 10 January 2001.

The pictures were taken while LST 325 was at Massachussetts Maritime Academy in Buzzards Bay MA on Cape Cod.

My grandfather was a radioman aboard LST-1048 in WWII and was down (down to me) in Evansville last weekend for the reunion. He naturally has been following -325s progress with some interest. Thanks for taking pictures of this. These will be very good for my files on LSTs.

I do have some other photos and research. Unfortunately, all of it is at home (I'm at college, and the term 'dorm room' is misleading, more like 'dorm closet housing two people'!). Hopefully I can get home soon to find and post it.
