Hey guys.
Has anyone been keeping up with the Lost Evidence of the Pacific series on the History Channel? They did Tarawa and Leyte Gulf Friday night. Leyte Gulf was awesome. Havent watched Tarawa yet (on tape). Seems the Johnston launched his attack to protect Taffy 3 without orders. Cool.

Haven't seen the series. I did do a little research on the 'Battle off Samar', Johnston did indeed begin her attack before the order was given. She had already launched all her torpedos when the order to approach and fire them was given, but they sailed in as if they were still loaded to help keep fire off of the other ships in the attack. The captain and many other crew members survived the sinking only to die in the water befre they could be picked up.
