Im curious, does anyone have any pictures or diagrams of what the Germans would have used During WWII for landing troops on the beaches?

Any help would be helpful!

Wow, that was the best question of the year. I never knew the Germans had landing crafts. I gotta tell ya, from what I see in those diograms, the Germans had their [auto-censored] together with the guns they used to help protect the troops landing.

Very interesting site indeed. Tamiya! We need a model of some of those! (tap tap tap) Tamiya, are you there?

I believe some German Landing Craft are featured in Warship International No.2 1997, but I don’t have the reference myself to confirm.

Don’t forget all the French, Belgium, Dutch and German (Rhine) Barges!

IIRC i thought they were also experimenting with special barges with concrete to bring vehicles over. It might just be the eggnog though

Brian,

The barges to which you refer to were old metal French Péniche or Belgium barges, they were reinforced with railway line longitudinals and then given a concrete hull liner. The fronts were modified by the addition of bow ramps and doors. Pictures may be found in Peter Schenk's excellent book entitled "Invasion of England 1940"

Several of those look like variations of the famous F lighter. I wonder just where the Germans were planning to use landing craft, a offensive weapon, in southern France or the Med in 1943/1944 like the MNL mentions.

This vessel looks like an MFP (Marinefährprahm).

Hi Rodger

I think the Geramns were planning to use landing craft in their invasion of England was it Operation Sealion(?)or something like that circa 9140 - 1941 and even developed amphibous Panzer III tanks for this Operation as well which were later used in Russia.

Regards

Sean
