Hey guys. Here are some pics of my 1/72 gulf uboat. All I have left to do is the 20mm gunner, a lookout and touch up the water. The water is made with paintable silicone caulk.

Comments welcome

Hi Kenny

Your Gulf Boat turned out great!
I like the figurines pose (the 1/72 and also the Andrea 54mm), and the arrangement you have made not to cut the U-boat, and at the same time making the water

Good job!

My only comment would be on your "water" - but then you said it's not finished yet - it is noticeable the pouring of the silicone... You have to treat it, so that this doesn't show, especially in the u-boat...

Try using a flat brush (expendable) with about 1 inch wide and make the waves and the water rising on the u-boat surfaces with smaller strokes. If the silicone allows it, make small areas each time. It will make a difference

Thank you for sharing

This has turned out to be a superbly finished model, I have no experience with modelling water so shall leave those comments to others.
I think that you have capturer a very bust scene really well and without a doubt the figures impart a sense of life to the scenarion.

John

Thanks guys. Hey Skip, thanks for the tip, I'll try it next time. I used paintable latex caulk in a small aersol type can with a nozzel. I used a paint stick to spead it out. I should have asked my wife to do it 'cause I felt like I was frosting a cake! :-)

Thanks for the positive feed back guys.

Hi Kenny

Glad I could help...
Another thing you could try is giving a wash to the torpedoes - they look too "flat"

Keep up,

Ahoy !

Kenny, that u-boat has taken on a complete new dimension
since we last saw it.
Great work!!!
The figures add so much...well done.

If you will allow: Fume the water with a little aqua green...
but ever so slightly and only in an irregluar pattern ...over-
coat with gloss gel medium...drybrush the water with a
little white to pick out the wave tops and you will end up
with super realistic Gulf water.

Keep up the great work!
Have a nice day and happy modelling,
