Its just typical homes over history; it wouldn't be so bad if the homes were going to be the affordable type but as ever only for the rich. Another sad day and an example of our destruction of our national heritage for profits.

Hi

This is sad news if all indeed occurs.

There is a healthy respect for history here in New Zealand and all such museums etc cannot have their sites like this lost.

In fact our Maritime Museum is situated on prime waterfront property overlooked by expensive partments.

It sounds like some historically minded people need to act and act now before some valuable history is lost.

On a lighter note if England does no want to preserve its naval history and in particular the U Boat I am sure the several naval museums here in New zealand would relish gaining these exhibits.

Regards

I'm sure they'll get good home somewhere. Scrap metal is near worthless, so if a museum picks them up as scrap metal, then they'll get a really good deal. The sad part is that the pieces will scatter and we'll loose an option to see all of those in one place..

The "main" issue here is that this Museum is Private.
It isn't a Royal Museum - it is from a person with interest in Naval History with "some" pounds to spare in these vessels!

If this was a Royal Museum, this problem wouldn't happen, for sure...
I wonder if U-534 will go south to Gosport?
I think that the main point is avoiding all those vessels to go to scrap!!!

Hello All,

Personally, I think that the U-534 should be parked
where it really belongs... next to the U-995 in Laboe.

Despite the fact that according to some, the German
government does not want anything to do with some
of their past, they should at least consider saving this
u-boat, if in the end it will be sold for scrap. There are
not a hundred of these around...only 5 u-boats in the
whole world.

Military History !
