Usually donīt hang around in this forum, mainly because built armour....but today in the morning, took place the practice to the Naval Parade thatīs going to take plece tomorrow, with the attendance of the President and other authorities.....maybe the last photos of Leander and County class in such an event......the pics are mine BTW....hope you like them:

Hi Rui,

The Navy bought 2 SSK 209/1400 in mid 80īs, and have been upgraded since in ASMAR (state owned shipyard), those subs are named Thomson y Simpson....and the last one is a new Scorpene class, named OīHiggins, the other one (the Carrera) will arrive this year...

Thanks for sharing Klaus. I must admit that I started to salivate when you said "last photos of Leander and County" classes. I thought they might be WWII Leanders and Counties, not the modern jobs. (sigh)

Did the Brits replace the Sheffield? I thought the "original" Sheffield, at least the modern ship, was sunk in the Falklands.

Hi Rodger,

yes, after the Falklands one of the then new 22 batch 2 frigates were given that name....
The chilean was taken from the british in 2003.
