Hi all,

I've talked myself in another difficult project again lol. I'm going to try to scratchbuild a LCT-4 in British service.

My goal is not to build a LCT-4 as detailled as the Accurate Amour or Art-Toys resin kits but "just" an acceptable LCT-4 model.

Why the LCT-4? Because I still want to build that Westkapelle '44 diorama! I tried it in 1/35 already but that didn't work. So, now I'll give it a try in 1/76, with landing craft!

Before I can start building I of course need some reference! Most important are scale drawings of the LCT-4. Also, any reference pics are welcome to build an realistisc model!

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks in advance,
Martin

May be this website can be of interest for your project. This modeller is scratchbuilding a 1/200 LCT Mk4 :

Found that one already Frenchy. Thanks for posting though

Btw, I think he has put 1/72 vehicles in that 1/200 LCT as only 2 tanks fit instead of the normal 6-8. Even better, the tanks can't even leave this LCT....they won't fit throught the "exit"

I would be satisfied btw if I could build a LCT with similar detail in 1/76!

Would it be an idea to buy this (1/400) LCT by Heller? Think it's supposed to be a LCT-4 but it's not clear by the box art for me.

Sprue looks alright though (at least from a distance - don't know anything about the quality)

Could use it to calculate 1/76 sizes for the major parts.....but the Heller kit sizes needs to be at least 99,99% correct for that.....

Sorry for the old hat Martin !

The only thing I can say about the Heller option is that Heller had also released a 1/400 Mk4 kit. It would be plausible to deduce that this is the one included in the LCT+LSU combo set....

Hmm that would be very good possible....

The LCT on the boxart doesn't really look like an LCT-4 though

I'm still hoping to find scale drawings! That would be best!

Who can help me?

One last try......

Who can help me?? Especially a top-down view drawing/picture would be helpfull!

Got an option on a cd-rom as well but I first want to try it the cheap way (allows me to buy more tanks lol)

Martin, I think I may have some in 1/76 scale but I cannot check until later (they may be LCT3). I can mail a set over if you cover the post and printing cost. I think it will come to about 10 Euros?

Pity I didn't know last week as I went to Antwerp on Saturday? John

Hi John,

Send me a PM if you want!

Need to be sure it's a LCT-4 though!

Martin, You are in luck.

I have 1/76 scale plans of the LCT3, LCT4 & LCT8.

Not sure about getting the copies yet as my old shop outlet has closed and gone.

Please be careful of box art and silhouette plans, most will be basic and probably incorrect. Also any existing LCTs since most appear to have been modernised or modified in some way.

Send me your e-mail and address to: -

Hi

Thanks for the link, but that one has been posted here already twice

If you can find a LCT-4 scale drawing though.....let me know I couldn't find it, only a lot of LCT-5 en LCT-6 information.
